Black yarn is an elusive creature to any dyer, but in natural dyes, we work even harder to create this dark horse.

A three-step process including overdye and color-shifting gets us here. The new Midnight colorway provides hints of brown, green, purple, & blue almost like a raven's feather.

Yarn Over Floyd

Naturally dyed fibers and simple crocheted creations from the farm

Yarn Over Floyd is a small batch, independent yarn dyer from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Here in the Appalachian Mountains I try and collect, use and save our local flora, scraps from the garden and weeds to help feed our love of fiber. There is never enough yarn and each one of our skeins is dyed specifically with the intent of you being able to take a little piece of our paradise home with you.

Cover Your Bases

I'm a yarn-a-holic, so I take a lot of care in picking what bases I use to dye with!
